Job Summary:

The Helper (OP3) is an entry-level, unskilled support role in the production team, responsible for assisting machine operators (OP1 and OP2) with material movement, cleaning, and basic support tasks. OP3 ensures that machines are kept supplied, work areas are clean, and operations run smoothly.

This position is typically temporary or casual and serves as a steppingstone toward semi-skilled roles with training and experience.

Key Skills: Material Handling:

  • Loads/unloads raw materials or finished goods to/from machines
  • Move finished goods from machine area to staging/packing area.
  • Assist in shifting tools, fixtures, and accessories for machine setups.

Cleaning & General Duties:

  • Keeps machine area clean.
  • Wipes surfaces, collects waste or scrap.
  • Maintain cleanliness around machines and production area.
  • Clean workstations, machine exteriors, and floor spaces.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste, scrap, and rejected parts.

Support Tasks:

  • Assists in maintaining tools or fixtures during setup
  • Stacks, packs, or labels products under instruction
  • Provide tools, materials, or packaging components to OP1 and OP2.
  • Assist during machine cleaning, setup, and downtime activities.
  • Help with sorting, stacking, or labelling as required.

Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all PPE and basic safety protocols strictly.
  • Reports spills, hazards, or machine issues immediately
  • Keep walkways and work areas free from obstructions or hazards.

Willingness to Learn:

  • Follow instructions accurately and complete tasks without delay.
  • Can be trained for simple repetitive tasks

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in material handling or in a production environment is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in rotational Shifts

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and follow instructions carefully.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
