The Assistant General Manager (MEP) will be responsible for overseeing all MEP design, execution, and coordination activities across projects. The role involves managing MEP services including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting, and other building services from design to execution, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, cost, and timeline requirements. The AGM MEP will lead coordination among consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams, providing technical expertise and leadership for successful project delivery.

Role & responsibilities

  1. Planning & Design Coordination

  2. Review and validate MEP designs, drawings, and specifications for compliance with project requirements.

  3. Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and design consultants to integrate MEP services effectively.
  4. Provide inputs during tendering and value engineering stages for optimizing MEP solutions.

  5. Support preparation of technical documentation, BOQs, and tender evaluations for MEP works.

  6. Project Execution & Monitoring

  7. Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems across all projects.

  8. Ensure MEP works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and international standards.
  9. Monitor project progress, timelines, and cost related to MEP scope.

  10. Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues to avoid delays.

  11. Vendor & Contractor Management

  12. Evaluate, prequalify, and finalize MEP contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

  13. Monitor contractor performance, quality of work, and adherence to safety standards.
  14. Manage procurement of MEP equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with approved specifications.

  15. Negotiate contracts, variations, and claims related to MEP scope.

  16. Quality, Safety & Compliance

  17. Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and safety standards for all MEP works.

  18. Review inspection reports, testing, and commissioning documents.
  19. Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and environmental requirements.

  20. Drive implementation of sustainable, energy-efficient, and green building practices in MEP systems.

  21. Leadership & Coordination

  22. Lead and mentor MEP engineers and site supervision teams.

  23. Coordinate with Project Managers, consultants, clients, and authorities for approvals and inspections.
  24. Provide technical expertise during design changes, site issues, or project escalations.
  25. Represent MEP function in client meetings, progress reviews, and project audits.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (Masters degree preferred).
  • Experience: 1218 years of progressive experience in MEP design, execution, and coordination within construction consultancy, real estate, or contracting organizations
  • Exposure: Residential, Commercial, Institutional, or Infrastructure Projects
  • Experience in large-scale projects (residential, commercial, mixed-use, or infrastructure).
  • Proven track record of leading MEP teams and managing multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design, energy management, and green building standards (LEED, IGBC, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Timely execution and delivery of MEP work within budget.
  • Compliance with approved designs, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Successful testing, commissioning, and handover of MEP systems.
  • Vendor/contractor performance and quality of delivered services.
  • Client satisfaction and reduced rework/defects in MEP installations.
