Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Senior Oracle DBA should be able to handle tasks on a hybrid environment in on premise and AWS cloud which include deployment, administration and optimization of databases hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure including Design, manage, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
  2. Work with DB team to provide enterprise-wide, Oracle/SQL Database Administration support for production systems and provide DBA services to application development teams, including database design, database provisioning, coding, patching, performance tuning and database production support. Provide DBA support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to user problems to ensure user productivity.
  3. Deploying and configuring Oracle 19c (and later versions) and SQL Server database systems both on EC2 as well as an RDS instance.
  4. Performing routine maintenance tasks like Oracle backups, restores, and security measures to ensure the integrity and availability of data. This includes monitoring database performance, diagnosing and resolving issues, and optimizing database configurations for optimal performance. Debugging DB Job failures (such as archive logs, backup, failures, increasing swap space.
  5. Monitoring database performance metrics and identify bottlenecks. Optimizing database queries, indexes, and configurations to improve performance and reduce latency.
  6. Implementing and maintaining database security measures to protect databases from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.
  7. This may involve configuring AWS security groups, IAM (Identity and Access Management) policies, encryption, and compliance with industry standards.
  8. Implementing strategies for high availability and disaster recovery to ensure continuous access to data in case of system failures or disasters. This may involve setting up multi-AZ deployments, database replication, failover procedures, and automated backups.
  9. Automating DB tasks such as patching, updating variable sets, analyzing metrics disk space using Ansible.
