About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Lead Data Engineer to drive data engineering initiatives, architect scalable data solutions, and mentor a collaborative technical team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure-based data platforms and modern data transformation frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and enhancement of scalable data pipelines and architectures.

Drive end-to-end implementation of data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows.

Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders including BI, Product, and Data Science teams.

Implement and maintain quality data governance practices using Azure and Databricks ecosystem.

Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance guidance to data engineering team members.

Monitor performance, identify optimization opportunities, and ensure high data availability.

Oversee DevOps practices including CI/CD for data pipeline releases.

Ensure documentation, standards, and best practices are followed across the data lifecycle.

Mandatory Technical Skills

Azure Data Factory – Data pipeline orchestration and integration

Databricks – Unity Catalog, Notebooks, Spark-based data processing

dbt – Data transformation and modelling

Azure DevOps Pipelines – CI/CD automation for data workflows

Data Modelling & Analysis – Strong fundamentals in SQL and dimensional modelling

Professional Requirements

Minimum 7+ years of overall experience in data engineering or related roles

Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience with the technologies listed above

Minimum 2+ years of proven experience leading or mentoring a data engineering team

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

Knowledge of Delta Lake, Lakehouse architecture

Experience with MLOps or DataOps frameworks

Exposure to cloud cost optimization practices

Strong understanding of metadata and lineage tracking tools

Education

Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Engineering, or related field
