Role Description

We are seeking a highly disciplined and experienced professional, ideally a former seafarer, either through Indian Navy, Main Fleet or Offshore Shipping, to join our team as Assistant Manager – Vessel Operations. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of vessel operations across our fleet. The position requires strong operational insight, leadership, and the ability to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of offshore supply and support vessels.

Key Responsibilities

• Voyage & Operations Planning: Develop, monitor, and optimise vessel deployment plans to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance.

• Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate sailing schedules, port calls, crew changeovers, bunkering, and cargo/consumables management.

• Operational Performance Tracking: Monitor daily vessel performance metrics (speed, fuel consumption, turnaround times, idle times) and drive improvements.

• Compliance & Safety Oversight: Ensure all operations adhere to statutory, regulatory, and HSE requirements.

• Stakeholder Management: Act as the key liaison between commercial, chartering, procurement, and marine teams to align operational requirements.

• Crisis & Contingency Planning: Support the development of emergency response and contingency plans for operational disruptions.

• Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly reports on vessel operations for management review.

• Fleet Utilisation Rate (planned vs actual deployment)

• Voyage Efficiency (fuel consumption vs benchmarks, sailing delays, waiting times)

• Port Turnaround Time (berthing, loading/unloading efficiency)

• On-Time Performance (adherence to sailing schedules)

• Crew Change Efficiency (planning vs execution gaps, minimal disruptions)

• Operational Cost Control (variance against OPEX budgets)

• Compliance Rate (audit findings, regulatory adherence, HSE compliance)

• Customer/Charterer Satisfaction (feedback and complaint resolution rate)

Qualifications

• If former Indian Navy Deck Officer, then a rank of Lieutenant Commander or equivalent rank preferred.

• If former main fleet or offshore seafarer, then a rank of chief mate, equivalent or higher prefered.

• Seafaring / maritime operations experience with strong understanding of navigation, ship handling, and vessel readiness.

• Strong understanding of MARPOL and SOLAR policies and laws.

• Able to create, update, and/or follow Standard Operating Procedures.

• Must be able to have a good command of English.

• Conversant in Hindi is a plus for Mumbai based role.

• Conversant in Telugu is a plus for Kakinada based role, but not essential.

• Strong organisational and planning abilities with exposure to multi-vessel operations.

• Proficiency in MS Office, marine reporting systems, and voyage planning tools.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to work in a cross-functional environment.

• Knowledge of international maritime regulations, port procedures, and safety protocols.
