**Job Description: Vice President, AI Research and Collaboration

Overview

We are seeking a visionary and accomplished leader to serve as Vice President of AI Research and Collaboration. This role will oversee advanced research in artificial intelligence while building and managing strategic partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, and internal teams. The VP will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's AI research agenda, driving innovation, and ensuring collaboration efforts translate into measurable business and societal impact.

Key Responsibilities

Research Leadership

Define and execute the company's long-term AI research strategy.

Lead cross-functional research teams focused on machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and emerging technologies.

Oversee publication of cutting-edge research papers, patents, and technology prototypes.

Collaboration & Partnerships

Establish and nurture collaborations with universities, research labs, and industry consortia.

Develop joint research initiatives with external partners and represent the company in global AI forums.

Negotiate partnership agreements ensuring mutual value creation.

Innovation & Application

Identify opportunities to translate research into products, tools, and solutions that advance company goals.

Drive the adoption of ethical and responsible AI practices across all research and development projects.

Provide thought leadership on AI advancements, ensuring the company stays ahead of market and technological trends.

Team Building & Mentorship

Recruit, mentor, and retain world-class AI researchers and engineers.

Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the research team.

Encourage interdisciplinary exploration between AI, data science, and business units.

Executive Contribution

Partner with the executive leadership team to align research initiatives with overall corporate strategy.

Represent the company externally at conferences, keynotes, and policy discussions.

Provide regular updates to the Board on research progress, collaborations, and outcomes.

Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field; or equivalent research experience.

12+ years of proven experience in AI research, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Strong track record of published research in top-tier journals/conferences and/or patents in AI technologies.

Demonstrated success in managing large-scale research projects and partnerships.

Deep understanding of AI ethics, governance, and policy considerations.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.

Experience leading geographically distributed and diverse research teams is a plus.
