Quality Control Engineer (Construction)

Role Overview

The Quality Control Engineer (Construction) is responsible for
conducting quality inspections during construction and performing detailed post-construction quality checks prior to project handover
. The role focuses on ensuring workmanship quality, material compliance, and adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and Indian standards.

This is a
hands-on, site-based role
with direct responsibility for identifying defects, issuing observations, and ensuring timely rectification to deliver safe, durable, and defect-free buildings for non-profit clients and communities.

Key Responsibilities

1 | Construction-Stage Quality Inspection

• Carry out routine and stage-wise quality inspections for civil and finishing works.
• Verify reinforcement, formwork, concreting, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, and finishing prior to covering up.
• Ensure execution complies with approved drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.

2 | Material & Workmanship Control

• Inspect incoming materials for approved makes, specifications, and test certificates.
• Verify proper storage, handling, and usage of materials on site.
• Monitor workmanship standards and prevent quality lapses and rework.

3 | Post-Construction & Snagging

• Conduct detailed snag-list and punch-list inspections before handover.
• Track and verify closure of all snags and defects.
• Support final inspections with consultants, NGO partners, and statutory authorities.

4 | Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain quality inspection checklists, snag lists, and photographic records.
• Issue quality observations, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and follow up on closures.
• Prepare concise inspection reports highlighting quality risks and corrective actions.

5 | Codes, Standards & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with relevant IS Codes, NBC provisions, and project specifications.
• Verify tolerances, finishes, and functional performance of building elements.
• Support quality requirements specific to healthcare, educational, and institutional buildings.

6 | Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with Site Engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely rectification.
• Communicate quality expectations clearly to site teams.
• Escalate unresolved quality issues to senior project leadership when required.

Candidate Profile

Must-Have Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology.
• 5–10 years of experience in building construction quality control or site inspection roles.
• Strong practical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and defect identification.
• Working knowledge of Indian Standards, NBC, and quality inspection procedures.
• Experience in both
  during-construction inspection and post-construction snagging
  .
• Proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation.
• Fluency in English and Hindi.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience in healthcare, educational, or institutional construction projects.
• Exposure to third-party inspection, independent quality audits, or client-side quality roles.
• Familiarity with green building materials and durability-focused construction.
• Safety or quality certifications (IOSH, NEBOSH, ISO 9001, or relevant short courses).

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary:
  ₹5 – 8 LPA (commensurate with experience)
