We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support a critical project focused on mitigating operational risks related to the retirement of COBOL experts.

You will work on reverse engineering COBOL-based mainframe applications and assist in preparing for modernization efforts. This role involves close collaboration with subject matter experts, technical teams, and stakeholders to document legacy systems and create business process flows. You will play a key role in ensuring a smooth transition to a strategic technology stack. Responsibilities

• Analyze COBOL codebase to extract and document program flows, business rules, data mappings, and dependencies
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and technical teams to validate reverse-engineered documentation
• Facilitate reviews and obtain approvals from SMEs to ensure accuracy of artifacts
• Assist in rationalizing features and simplifying designs for future technology stack
• Develop business process models based on reverse engineering outcomes and workshops
• Provide insights for modernized system designs aligned with business requirements
• Serve as liaison between business and technical teams to maintain alignment on objectives
• Conduct workshops and meetings to gather requirements and refine documentation
• Report project progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership
• Perform detailed analysis of data lineage and application dependencies to minimize risks
• Ensure traceability between legacy systems and future design specifications
• Support adherence to project timelines and milestones under fixed-fee contract
• Contribute to quality assurance activities to meet project standards

Requirements

• 7 to 10 years of experience in business analysis with a focus on mainframe and COBOL environments
• Proven expertise in reverse engineering legacy systems, particularly COBOL codebases
• Background in collaborating with subject matter experts and technical teams to document complex systems
• Competency in agile methodologies and working within agile project teams
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to map data lineage and application dependencies
• Experience preparing documentation and artifacts for system modernization efforts
• Fluency in English at a professional working level
