Position Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer with a strong background in Apache Kafka and MongoDB clustering. This role blends responsibilities in infrastructure management, database development, and real-time data streaming integration. The ideal candidate has experience across distributed systems, performance tuning, and secure, highly available production environments.

Key Responsibilities

Kafka and MongoDB Cluster Administration

- Install, configure, and maintain high-availability, production-grade Kafka and MongoDB clusters (including sharding and replication).

- Design and manage Kafka topics, partitions, retention policies, and security configurations (SSL/SASL).

- Monitor and tune performance across Kafka Brokers, ZooKeeper, MongoDB replica sets, and sharded clusters.

- Implement disaster recovery, data backup, and restore strategies.

- Conduct regular infrastructure audits to ensure security, compliance, and optimal system health.

Database Development and Integration

- Design and optimize stored procedures, views, and functions in SQL Server/PostgreSQL.

- Build and maintain MongoDB data models, indexes, and aggregation pipelines.

- Develop ETL/ELT workflows integrating Kafka, MongoDB, RDBMS, and other NoSQL systems.

- Build real-time data ingestion pipelines using Kafka producers/consumers.

- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams for seamless integration and automation.

Automation, Monitoring & Compliance

- Use tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, MongoDB Ops Manager, or similar for real-time monitoring.

- Automate database management tasks using Python, Bash, or Ansible.

- Ensure data security and governance (TLS, authentication, access control).

- Align with GDPR, HIPAA, and other data regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

- Minimum 8 years of total experience, with at least 4 years of hands-on expertise in:

  - Kafka ecosystem (brokers, Zookeeper, Kafka Connect, producers/consumers)

  - MongoDB clustering (replica sets, sharding, failover management)

- Proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.

- Strong background in SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB).

- Deep understanding of performance tuning, capacity planning, and security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with additional NoSQL systems like CouchDB, Redis, or Cassandra.

- Exposure to cloud and on-premise environments.

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.

- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized data pipelines.

- Certifications in MongoDB, Kafka, or Linux administration are a plus.
