Selected Intern's Day-to-day Responsibilities Include

  • Conduct daily fieldwork by engaging with community members to understand local safety concerns.
  • Record responses manually during field visits.
  • Upload collected data to the Safe City app after fieldwork.

Targets: daily: 12-15 entries, monthly: 200 entries

About Company: Safecity is a platform that crowdsources personal stories of sexual harassment and abuse in public spaces. This data, which may be anonymous, is aggregated as hot spots on a map to indicate local trends. The goal is to make this data useful for individuals, communities, and local administrations to identify factors that contribute to violence and develop strategies for solutions.

Since launching on December 26, 2012, Safecity has collected nearly 9,000 stories from over 50 cities across India, Nepal, Kenya, and Cameroon. Safecity aims to make cities safer by promoting equal access to public spaces for everyone, especially women, through the use of crowdsourced data and technology.
