Responsibilities:

Project oversight and management

Supervision: Manage and supervise all daily on-site construction activities and the site supervision staff.

Compliance: Ensure that all work is performed according to approved plans, technical specifications, safety standards, and local building codes.

Schedule monitoring: Monitor the contractor's progress against the construction schedule and identify any potential delays or issues. Propose corrective actions when necessary.

Quality assurance and control

Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of construction activities, such as earthworks, concrete pouring, and steel reinforcement, to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Material verification: Inspect and approve all materials and equipment delivered to the site to ensure they meet project specifications.

Testing: Verify all on-site and laboratory test reports for materials like concrete and soil.

Documentation and reporting

Daily logs:

Maintain a detailed daily diary of all site activities, including progress, work-related discussions, and incidents.

Progress reports: Prepare and submit regular (e.g., daily, weekly, and monthly) progress reports to the client and senior management.

Record keeping: Manage all project documentation, including contract drawings, specifications, change orders, submittals, and inspection reports.

Stakeholder communication and coordination

Liaison: Act as the primary technical liaison between the client, contractors, designers, and other stakeholders.

Meetings: Conduct and document weekly progress and safety meetings with the contractor and other parties.

Issue resolution: Identify and resolve technical or procedural issues that arise during construction, and manage all requests for information (RFIs) from the contractor.

Payment certification: Verify quantities of work completed and certify the contractor's payment applications.

Closeout: Participate in final inspections and prepare punch lists to ensure defects are corrected before final project handover.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

A minimum of 2–5 years of experience in civil construction, with proven experience supervising on-site work and managing contractors.

Technical skills:

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and relevant local and international codes and standards.

Ability to read and interpret complex plans and blueprints.

Soft skills:

Leadership: Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving abilities.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as strong negotiation skills.

This role is based on the construction site and requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Work hours may be irregular and require working evenings, weekends, or holidays to meet project deadlines.

The role involves moderate physical activity and requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
