Position / Role & Grade: Assistant Manager Production Engineering

Department / Division Production Engineering

Location- Sanand, Ahmedabad

Reporting To- Head Manufacturing / Production

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor daily production engineering activities to achieve production targets.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Lead initiatives for cycle time reduction, scrap minimization, and productivity improvement.
  • Support new product development (NPD) and ensure seamless production readiness.
  • Prepare and review PPAP documentation, FMEA, and Control Plans for new and existing processes.
  • Ensure optimal manmachine utilization through time-motion and line balancing studies.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and tool room teams for smooth production operations.
  • Drive Lean, Kaizen, and 5S implementation within the department.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production engineers and line supervisors.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.

Key Skills

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, tooling, and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma principles.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability using 8D / PDCA methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and team management skills.
  • Competence with ERP / SAP systems and MS Office tools.
  • Knowledge of automation, PLC-based systems, and OEE monitoring tools preferred.

Education & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech in Polymer or Plastic Engineering
  • Experience: 5–10 years in production or process engineering in an automotive / component / manufacturing setup.
  • Exposure to greenfield / new plant setup is an advantage.
