The Safety Head will be responsible will be responsible for leading the safety strategy and execution at the integrated steel plant with prior expossure in dupont safety culture, with a strong emphasis on process safety management (PSM), regulatory compliance, and developing a zero-harm culture. The role demands a visionary leader who can drive safety excellence through analytical insight, robust risk management, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives.Role & responsibilities.

  • Strategic Leadership : I.Develop and implement a site-wide safety strategy aligned with corporate goals.

II.Foster a strong safety culture focused on behavioral safety and accountability at all levels.

III. Lead cross-functional engagement to integrate safety into every layer of operations.

  • Process Safety Management (PSM)

I. Implement and sustain a robust PSM framework in line with industry best practices and standards ( JSP PSM standards).

II. Conduct risk-based assessments (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, BHM,MIQA,ERP) for critical processes.

III. Ensure regular audits, safety integrity level assessments, and effective incident investigations with root cause analysis (RCA).

Preferred candidate profile

  • Ensure 100% compliance with national and local statutory safety regulations, including Factory Act, Explosive Rules, PESO, DISH, CFE, CFI, CPCB/SPCBetc.
  • Analytical Safety Performance Management

I.Develop and monitor leading and lagging indicators to proactively identify trends, gaps, and improvement areas.

II. Drive data-centric safety initiatives using incident analytics, heat maps, dashboards, and predictive tools.

III. Conduct monthly safety reviews with plant leadership based on data-driven insights.

iv. Deep Knowledge in investigation of incidents (accidents, near-misses, fires) with tools like 8 steps method or Causation model , determine root causes and present reports to senior managment with trend analysis and preventive strategies.

  • In-depth knowledge of safety laws and best practices in Integrated steel industry operations.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, hazard identification, and risk management. Familiarity with safety management systems such as Dupont Safety Systems, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001.
  • Team Leadership skills with experience of dealing with contractors and contract workmen on safety matters.
  • Hands-on with tools like HAZOP, RCA, FMEA, ISO 45001, etc.
  • Learning agility for taking up higher level roles.
  • Easily adapt, manage, and drive the change.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of delivery through teams.
  • Excellent process orientation approach.
  • Works with collaborative approach with cross functional teams as a good team player.
  • Excellent coaching skills desired.
  • Meticulous in ensuring compliance with safety procedures and identifying potential risks.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve safety-related issues efficiently
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and departmental teams to ensure a cohesive approach to safety.
