Yard Supervisor

1. Yard Operations Management

2. Storage and Organization: Ensuring that steel products (TMT bars, sheets, coils, etc.) are properly stored in the yard, with attention to efficient layout, inventory tracking, and easy accessibility. Proper stacking and categorization are important to minimize damage and ensure safety.

3. Material Handling: Overseeing the movement of materials within the yard using forklifts, cranes, or other equipment. The supervisor ensures that the materials are handled safely and according to best practices.

4. Inventory Control: Maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials. The supervisor ensures stock levels are updated and checks if the materials match the specifications of the orders.

5. Safety and Compliance

6. Workplace Safety: Implementing and enforcing safety standards and protocols to prevent accidents in the yard. This includes training workers on proper handling techniques, proper use of equipment, and compliance with local safety regulations.

7. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Ensuring that all workers are wearing the appropriate PPE, such as helmets, gloves, steel-toed boots, etc.

8. Inspection and Maintenance: Supervising the regular inspection of equipment like cranes, forklifts, and other yard machinery, ensuring they are maintained properly to avoid breakdowns or accidents.

9. Logistics Coordination

10. Coordination with Procurement and Sales Teams: The Yard Supervisor communicates with procurement, sales, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products. They are involved in coordinating the loading of products for transportation.

11. Loading and Unloading: Supervising the unloading of raw materials when they arrive at the yard, and ensuring that finished goods are loaded onto delivery vehicles for dispatch.

12. Vehicle and Fleet Management: Supervising the movement of vehicles within the yard to avoid congestion and ensure smooth operations.

13. Team Leadership and Training

14. Team Supervision: Overseeing the work of yard staff and ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently. This includes delegating tasks and ensuring that work is completed on time and within quality standards.

15. Training and Development: Training new staff on yard operations, safety standards, and equipment handling. The Yard Supervisor may also be involved in ongoing skill development and assessments.

16. Performance Management: Monitoring the performance of yard workers, providing feedback, and addressing any issues that arise related to work performance or safety concerns.

17. Inventory and Quality Control

18. Product Quality Assurance: Ensuring that the quality of the steel products is maintained during storage and handling. This involves checking for any defects or damage during unloading and storage and reporting any issues to the quality control department.

19. Inventory Audits: Regularly conducting physical inventories to reconcile with records and ensure that stock levels are accurate.

20. Reporting and Documentation

21. Daily Reporting: Providing daily or weekly reports on yard activities, inventory levels, product movement, and any incidents or delays that occurred during the day.

22. Documentation of Transactions: Maintaining records of transactions, such as goods received and dispatched, orders processed, and stock movements.

23. Problem Solving

24. Issue Resolution: Addressing any operational issues that arise within the yard, such as equipment malfunctions, inventory discrepancies, or safety incidents. The Yard Supervisor may need to coordinate with the maintenance team or external contractors to resolve issues quickly.

25. Communication

26. Coordination with Other Departments: The Yard Supervisor ensures seamless communication between departments like sales, procurement, logistics, and accounts. This coordination ensures smooth order processing and timely delivery.

27. Customer Interaction: In some cases, the Yard Supervisor may interact directly with customers, especially when handling custom orders or coordinating delivery timelines.
