About The Opportunity
A specialist outpatient clinic in the Gastroenterology & Surgical care sector based in Indiranagar, Bangalore, delivering consultations, diagnostic endoscopy services, and peri‑operative patient support. We seek an on‑site Patient Counsellor to join a fast‑paced clinical team and ensure exceptional patient experience across pre‑procedure, in‑clinic and post‑procedure touchpoints.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Welcome and register patients; conduct structured intake to capture medical history, current symptoms and relevant comorbidities for the gastroenterology team.
  • Explain diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (including endoscopy/pre‑op instructions) clearly and empathetically; obtain informed consent and document counseling notes in the EMR.
  • Coordinate appointment bookings, procedure scheduling and follow‑up calls; manage waitlists and communicate changes to patients and clinical staff.
  • Verify insurance coverage, support billing queries and collect pre‑procedure payments as per clinic protocols.
  • Provide tailored patient education—preparation instructions, medication guidance, dietary advice and post‑procedure care plans—and escalate clinical concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, prepare referral letters and collaborate with physicians, nurses and administrative teams to improve patient flow and satisfaction.

Skills & Qualifications
Must‑Have

  • Prior experience in a hospital/clinic patient‑facing role (preferably in gastroenterology, endoscopy or surgical OPD).
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and appointment scheduling systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology related to gastroenterology and endoscopic procedures.
  • Ability to verify insurance coverage and manage basic medical billing processes.
  • Fluent in English and Kannada; Hindi or other regional languages are an advantage.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette, empathy, and the ability to communicate complex clinical instructions simply and accurately.

Preferred

  • Certification or diploma in medical counselling, medical front office, or allied health field.
  • Experience with telemedicine platforms and remote patient follow‑up workflows.
  • Background working with endoscopy suites or perioperative patient education programs.
