Job Title: Technical Configurator – LabVantage LIMS 

 
The Technical Configurator – LabVantage will configure, maintain, and enhance LabVantage LIMS modules to support Quality Control (QC) laboratory operations at site and regional levels. This role requires hands-on LabVantage configuration experience, working knowledge of pharmaceutical laboratory workflows, and strong familiarity with validation principles and GxP compliance. The configurator will help optimize and standardize LIMS functionality, maintain secure and reliable configurations, and support integrations with laboratory instruments and enterprise systems. 

Key Responsibilities:  

What you will be doing: 

System Configuration, Master Data & Design 

·       Configure and maintain LabVantage modules such as sample management, test methods, specifications, stability, instrument management, labels, and reporting. 

·       Manage site-level master data models, hierarchies, and workflows that align to standardized business processes and ensure data integrity. 

·       Implement and maintain configuration components including test templates, calculations, result entry forms, limits management, and controlled vocabularies. 

·       Configure user roles/job types, privileges, and security models aligned with governance standards. 

·       Support Azure cloud-hosted environments by validating configuration compatibility and scalability per enterprise IT policies. 

·       Assist with version control and lifecycle management of configuration objects to ensure traceability and alignment with validated state. 

Technical Development & Platform Support 

·       Provide Tier 2/ Tier 3 platform and master data support, acting as a key resolver before escalation to global solution teams. 

·       Analyze, triage, and resolve issues using root cause analysis to minimize downtime. 

·       Develop/maintain medium to little complex scripts, business rules, and LabVantage SDK components to automate processing and workflow activities under guidance. 

·       Support and troubleshoot instrument integrations (e.g., Empower, Chromeleon, SmartLab, Darwin, simple/complex instruments) and assist with data exchange to ERP, ELN, QMS, MES, EM, and analytics systems. 

·       Develop or maintain barcode labels using Bartender label/printing software. 

·       Assist with custom reports, APIs, and interfaces to ensure seamless information flow and interoperability. 

·       Contribute to automated testing frameworks/tools to validate configuration changes and regression scenarios. 

·       Follow version-control practices to manage configured and custom code through the release lifecycle. 

Quality, Validation & Compliance 

·       Ensure configuration activities comply with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity (ALCOA++) principles. 

·       Prepare and maintain design specifications, configuration documentation, and validation test scripts for IQ/OQ/PQ activities, support installation procedures. 

·       Execute change control, release management, and deployment processes to maintain compliance and stability across environments. 

·       Contribute to validation automation initiatives consistent with cloud-first, DevOps-enabled quality systems. 

·       Build test scenarios/documents and contribute to test method templates. 

·       Participate in Change Control Board (CAB) processes to support controlled deployment of configurations. 

Support, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement 

·       As part of Tier2/Tier3, serve as a key resolver for configuration issues and enhancement/feature requests. 

·       Support platform upgrades, patch management, and regression testing using automated test scripts and validation tools. 

·       Identify opportunities for process automation, master data harmonization, and operational excellence; propose and implement improvements. 

·       Maintain site-level knowledge base documentation, reusable templates, and configuration repositories to aid scalability and onboarding. 

·       Contribute to vendor package impact analysis on existing workflows/modules. 

Collaboration, Leadership & Governance 

·       Collaborating with Senior Tech Configurator, Global IT, solution architects, validation teams, and functional business leads to translate requirements into standardized, supportable configurations. 

·       Act as a subject-matter resource for platform and master data topics within the LabVantage ecosystem at the site/regional level. 

·       Provide guidance to junior team members on configuration standards, troubleshooting, and support methodologies. 

·       Partner with vendors and collaboration teams to ensure compliant technical delivery within the Azure environment. 

·       Participate in governance forums to drive alignment and consistency across the LIMS landscape.

Basic Qualifications and Experience Requirement:  

·       Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or related discipline.  

· years of experience in LIMS configuration/administration, with 2 – 4 years specifically on LabVantage LIMS. 

·       Solid understanding of LabVantage configuration framework. 

·       Experience building/maintaining test methods, workflows, calculations, and specifications within LabVantage. 

·       Working knowledge of QC lab processes in pharma/life sciences. 

·       Familiarity with instrument integrations, data interfaces (REST/SOAP APIs, file-based, middleware), and reporting tools. 

·       Experience supporting CSV documentation, audit readiness, and change control processes. 

Additional Skills/Preferences:  

·       Azure environment familiarity (VMs, storage, security, monitoring) from an application-support lens. 

·       Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting for regression/functional testing in validated systems. 

·       Hands-on ability in Java, Groovy, or SQL for SDK enhancements, data manipulation, and process automation (intermediate level). 

·       Understanding of REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, and data exchange standards among LIMS, ERP, ELN, and QMS. 

·       Master data governance exposure (quality, traceability, compliance). 

·       Working knowledge of configuration lifecycle processes, version control (e.g., Git), and validation documentation. 

·       Ability to contribute to reusable documentation, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides. 

·       Experience with tools such as JIRA, ALM, ServiceNow, PL/SQL and/or SQL Server, GitHub, Lucidchart. 

·       Certification in LabVantage Administration and/or SDMS. 

·       Exposure to system upgrades, performance tuning, and cloud deployments.
