Job Purpose

To plan, coordinate, and oversee all logistics operations related to import and export of goods, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of materials and finished products. The role involves managing international freight, customs documentation, vendor relations, and optimizing supply chain efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
1. Import Operations

  • Plan and monitor all inbound shipments, ensuring adherence to delivery schedules and customs regulations.
  • Coordinate with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs agents for timely clearance and delivery.
  • Prepare and verify import documentation such as invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and import declarations.
  • Track and resolve issues related to shipment delays, demurrage, or damage.

2. Export Operations

  • Manage all outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with export documentation, packing standards, and international trade laws.
  • Prepare shipping instructions, export declarations, and certificates of origin.
  • Liaise with carriers, clearing agents, and customers to ensure timely dispatch and delivery.
  • Maintain updated export compliance records as per statutory requirements.

3. Customs & Compliance

  • Ensure all imports and exports comply with DGFT, Customs, and other government regulations.
  • Keep up to date with changes in international trade laws, tariffs, and INCOTERMS.
  • Maintain licenses, permits, and records as required for audits and statutory inspections.

4. Logistics & Freight Management

  • Negotiate freight rates and service contracts with shipping lines, airlines, and transporters.
  • Optimize logistics costs through consolidation, route planning, and vendor performance analysis.
  • Manage third-party logistics (3PL) providers and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Monitor warehouse inventory related to import/export goods.

5. Coordination & Reporting

  • Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Production, and Sales teams for seamless logistics operations.
  • Prepare regular reports on shipment status, lead time, logistics cost analysis, and performance metrics.
