ROLE SUMMARY:

This is a unique opportunity to join the Infrastructure and Cloud Division of The London Stock Exchange Group as a Senior Specialist, Database SRE, within Infrastructure Platform Engineering at a time of growth and development. Innovation sits at the heart of the Group, and we must continuously evolve to meet our ambitious plans for the future.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Develop and maintain standards for database builds, database security, patching, high availability and disaster recovery.

- Monitor and configure database resources to ensure optimum performance.

- Handle database procedures such as backup/restore and database version upgrades.

- Undertake maintenance and upgrade tasks, generally out of normal business hours including weekends.

- Provide database design support to development projects.

- Undertake database performance tuning and diagnostics.

- Assist platform administrators as necessary to support applications that use our databases.

- Provide support shift cover and be available for on-call service.

- Seek and implement opportunities for automating manual database management tasks.

- Evaluate and implement strategies to align to IT security policies.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

- Experience of supporting business critical applications in a multi data center environment.

- Sybase ASE – 16.0.

- Sybase IQ 15.3 – 16.1.

- Sybase Replication Server.

- Sybase Direct Connect.

- PostgreSQL Database Administration.

- SQL Server Database Administration.

- Database Infrastructure installs, upgrades and patching.

- Database high availability and disaster recovery strategies.

- Experience of supporting databases in a Cloud environment.

- Automation of database administration tasks.

- Experience of using DevOps tools.

- Understanding of ITIL Service Framework.

- Shell Scripting and ISQL.

OPTIONAL SKILLS:

- Familiarity with monitoring and administrative tools: Delphix, Whitesands, Geneos, Datadog.
