Electrical Engineer Rooftop Solar O&M

An Operations and Maintenance Engineers job is to ensure the smooth running of systems and equipment. He manages and executes operation and maintenance tasks for solar power plants ensuring efficiency and reliability.

Roles and Responsibilities: -

  • Preparing and maintaining the site documents
  • Checking the electrical work against approved drawings
  • Handling Manpower at the site to ensure proper execution of work
  • Perform safety tests and evaluate risks to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Inspect Solar panels, inverters, racking systems, and other parts for physical damage.
  • Use tools and software to monitor the performance of solar energy Assets.
  • Use tools like Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective Action (CAPA), and Preventive Action (PA) to solve problems.
  • Manage contractual obligations with equipment suppliers, OEMs, and service providers.
  • Ensure safety at the site
  • Do regular data analysis by analyzing power generation data and performing root cause analysis.
  • Provide weekly reports on asset and plant performance
  • Check the data from monitoring systems to identify potential problems
  • Continuous process of operating, maintaining and optimizing Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems to maximize their performance and ROI.
  • Supervision of PV systems performance data, identify issues and prevent potential risks.
  • Regular cleaning and servicing of PV Systems, to keep them running at peak efficiency
  • Monitor the performance of Solar Panels, optimize energy production and Solar panel replacement to maximize energy efficiency
  • Co-ordinating with OEMs for spares, AMC, warranty, and service requests
  • Review usage trends overtime, track depreciation rates and better forecast of energy costs
  • Maintenance: Performing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks of Rooftop Solar Plants.
  • Monitoring: Monitoring the performance of solar panels, inverters, and other equipment for optimal plant performance to achieve maximum generation and minimum downtime.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and fixing faults in the rooftop solar system.
  • Reporting: Preparing and sending daily/ monthly reports on the plant's performance (power generation) and technical specifications.
  • Communication: Liaising with customers and stakeholders to ensure their needs are met. Relationship mgmt. and coordination with SLDC, local government authorities.
  • Safety: Performing safety tests and evaluating risks to ensure a safe working environment. Planning & execution to adhere preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Supervision: Managing and supervising the work of other engineers, technicians, and contractors/ vendors.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and performance of the rooftop solar power plant.

Desired Skill: -

  • They should have good technical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant solar work experience in maintenance, operations, or related field
  • Knowledge of equipment and machinery, engineering principles, and safety procedures

Education &Qualification: -

  • B.E/B. Tech (Electrical) with 4 to 7 years experience in Solar Operations and Maintenance
