Assistant Librarian

Job description

- Assist in the organization, maintenance, and inventory of the library collection

- Provide reference and information services to students and faculty

- Support and guide students in utilizing library resources for research and study

- Assist in cataloging new acquisitions and maintaining the librarys database

- Help students in accessing and utilizing online and digital resources

- Manage circulation services, including checking books in and out and collecting fines

- Assist in promoting reading and literacy programs in collaboration with teachers

- Assist in organizing library events, book fairs, and author visits

- Keep abreast of new book releases, curriculum-related materials, and digital resources

- Ensure the library environment is conducive to study and research

- Assist in maintaining a neat and organized library space

- Support the Librarian in coordinating with vendors for book procurement

- Contribute to the development and implementation of library policies and procedures

- Supervise student library assistants and provide training as needed

- Assist in library budget management and resource allocation

Qualifications

- Bachelors/ Masters degree in Library Science or related field

- Proven experience working in a library or information center

- Strong knowledge of library principles, practices, and procedures

- Proficiency in library information retrieval and organization

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to assist and guide students with research and reference inquiries

Experience 1-3 years of experience in a library setting, preferably in a college or academic environment.

Skills

- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and school management software.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
