1. Role Overview

The Millwright Fitter will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment in the Bauxite Handling System (BHS) / Raw Material Handling System (RMHS) including Stacker, Reclaimer, Conveyors, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Shafts, Couplings, Gearboxes and other rotating/static equipment.

The role ensures safe and reliable equipment availability to support continuous plant operations.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Maintenance & Repair

• Perform daily, preventive, and breakdown maintenance of:

• Stacker & Reclaimer machines

• Conveyor systems (belt, pulleys, rollers, take-up, scrapers)
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Gearboxes, couplings, bearings, shafts

• Bucket elevators, feeders, crushers (if applicable)

• Carry out alignment of motors, shafts, and couplings using dial gauge / laser alignment tools.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults in RMHS equipment.
• Overhaul and maintain pumps, valves, filters, lubrication systems.

B. Technical Operations

• Identify equipment abnormalities and take immediate corrective action.
• Replace worn-out components like bearings, seals, belts, rollers, idlers, chain drives, etc.
• Read engineering drawings, mechanical diagrams, and P&IDs.
• Ensure proper tensioning and tracking of conveyor belts.

C. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all site safety rules and ensure LOTO procedures during maintenance.
• Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Toolbox Talks, and Permit-to-Work activities.
• Ensure safe handling of tools, tackles, lifting equipment, and rotating machinery.

D. Documentation

• Maintain daily maintenance logs and reports.
• Update PM checklists and breakdown reports.
• Communicate issues to supervisors for spare planning and timely rectification.

E. Team Coordination

• Work closely with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams.
• Assist during major shutdowns, overhauling, and equipment commissioning.

3. Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Stacker & Reclaimer O&M.
• Expertise in Hydraulics and Pneumatics systems.
• Hands-on experience with rotating equipment (gearbox, motor, coupling).
• Conveyor maintenance: belt tracking, jointing/vulcanizing coordination, pulley alignment.
• Ability to identify mechanical faults quickly.
• Understanding of vibration, lubrication, and preventive maintenance practices.
