About the Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Architect Engineer (Data) to play a pivotal leadership role in the development, architecture, and engineering of data solutions that underpin key products and services.

This role reports to the Head of Engineering and involves taking ownership of the data architecture, driving engineering excellence, and leading the development of data capabilities within the technology team.

Key Responsibilities :

Architecture & Planning :

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of strategic data technology requirements.

- Collaborate with technology product teams to identify and prioritize both strategic and tactical data needs.

- Ensure the data landscape is well-modeled, maintained, and governed with defined architectures, schemas, standards, and guidelines.

- Develop and publish technology plans, roadmaps, and architecture standards for the data domain.

- Assist in the selection and implementation of technology platforms, tools, frameworks, and third-party components.

Engineering Leadership :

- Lead the design, build, and maintenance of an optimized, scalable, and secure data infrastructure needed for data collection, storage, and processing.

- Work closely with key stakeholders and engineers to ensure alignment on deliverables and expectations.

- Select, design, configure, build, and maintain critical data technology infrastructure components.

- Write code as needed to deliver tested and functional software components aligned with requirements.

- Drive continuous improvements in data management, quality, testing, delivery processes, and tooling.

Team Leadership and Collaboration :

- Lead an agile, cross-functional technology team in developing and supporting data products and components.

- Mentor, develop, and manage engineers and analysts to build a high-performing engineering team.

- Foster collaboration within the team and across other departments.

- Share technical expertise and provide guidance as necessary.

- Encourage creative problem-solving and open communication within the team.

Required Expertise and Experience :

- Exceptional skills in data solution architecture and engineering.

- Extensive experience resolving data technology challenges via coding and technology component implementation.

- Deep knowledge of structured, unstructured, and hybrid data technologies.

- Proven experience with designing and implementing data meshes, data fabrics, data lakes, and lakehouses.

- Strong background in building ETL components in hybrid data environments.

- Experience using AI/ML tools and frameworks for data extraction, tagging, and generation.

- Proficiency in cloud-based hosting platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

- Solid understanding of data security best practices.

- At least 10 years of data architecture, engineering, or software development with a strong focus on data technologies.

- Experience leading remote Agile software development teams.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

- Proven leadership and team-building capabilities.

- Experience in startup environments and understanding of end-to-end software development lifecycle.

- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.

- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate across geographies and time zones.

- Knowledge of workflow and robotic process automation frameworks, and machine learning components is a plus.

- Experience in the life sciences or regulatory affairs domain is advantageous.
