Role & responsibilities

Portfolio Management:

  • Manage investment funds allocated to or within the chemical sector.
  • Diversify investments across sub-segments such as petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, agrochemicals, and industrial gases.

Market Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of chemical industry trends, raw material pricing, energy costs, regulatory impacts, and global supply chain developments.
  • Monitor macroeconomic indicators affecting the chemical sector.

Financial Modelling & Valuation:

  • Build financial models to evaluate ROI, IRR, NPV of potential investments.
  • Conduct company valuations and risk-return analysis for listed and unlisted chemical firms.

Due Diligence:

  • Conduct technical and financial due diligence of potential investment targets in the chemical sector.
  • Coordinate with technical consultants to assess production capacity, process technology, environmental compliance, etc.

Investment Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement investment strategies focused on sustainability, innovation (e.g., chemicals, Automotive-based chemicals), and ESG standards.
  • Identify growth areas like lithium extraction, specialty additives, and carbon capture.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Prepare regular investment reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with chemical industry experts, analysts, and regulatory bodies.

Risk Management:

  • Monitor risks related to price volatility of raw materials (e.g., crude oil), regulatory changes (REACH, EPA), and environmental liabilities.
  • Develop mitigation strategies including hedging, diversification, and insurance.

Key Skills:

  • Deep understanding of chemical sector dynamics (upstream, midstream, downstream)
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
  • Strategic thinking and investment acumen
  • Knowledge of global regulatory and compliance norms (REACH, OSHA, etc.)
  • Familiarity with commodity pricing and derivatives
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management
