Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fabrication Cost Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for metal fabrication projects. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, labour costs, and industry standards to provide precise quotations and support project planning. This role requires collaboration with engineering, procurement, and project teams to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to determine material, labour, and time costs.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for fabrication projects, including cutting, welding, machining, and assembly.

  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.

  • Develop and maintain cost databases for materials, labour rates, and equipment usage.

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize designs for cost-effectiveness.

  • Prepare and submit quotations, bids, and tender documents within deadlines.

  • Conduct cost variance analysis and recommend cost-control measures during project execution.

  • Stay updated with market trends, raw material prices, and fabrication technologies.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry codes, and safety standards.

  • Maintain proper documentation of cost estimates, revisions, and final project budgets.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.

  • Proven experience (3–5 years) as a Cost Estimator in a fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering environment.

  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, materials, and machining techniques.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD files.

  • Familiarity with cost estimation software and MS Office applications.
