Job Summary:
The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for manufacturing heat exchangers, including shell & tube, plate, and air-cooled types. This role involves analyzing customer specifications, developing technical proposals, preparing detailed cost breakdowns, and supporting the sales and project teams during the bidding and execution phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret RFQs, technical specifications, and engineering drawings provided by clients.
- Conduct cost estimation for the fabrication of heat exchangers, including material, labour, machining, testing, painting, and transportation.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and production teams to collect relevant data and validate costing assumptions.
- Prepare detailed techno-commercial proposals, bid documents, and costing sheets. Ensure estimates comply with industry codes and standards such as ASME.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, exotic alloys) based on design requirements and customer specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in cost estimation or project engineering within the pressure vessel or heat exchanger manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding, machining, NDT, and materials used in heat exchanger manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and estimation software/tools.
- Familiarity with ASME Section VIII and other relevant standards.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and time management skills
