Telecom Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering and IT infrastructure, with expertise in various telecommunications technologies. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining network systems to ensure high availability and security for our organization. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to optimize network performance and support our telecommunication needs.

Duties

• Design, implement, and manage WAN and LAN infrastructures.
• Configure and maintain Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco ISE, and Meraki devices.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement network security measures including VPNs, IPsec, and encryption protocols.
• Support data center operations with SAN management and high availability solutions.
• Monitor network performance using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk.
• Troubleshoot network issues related to routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP).
• Collaborate with IT teams on cloud security initiatives using AWS or Azure environments.
• Develop scripts for automation using Python or Bash (Unix shell) to enhance system administration tasks.
• Ensure compliance with ITIL standards while managing network installations and configurations.
• Provide technical support for VoIP systems and remote access software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in network engineering or telecommunications roles.
• Proficiency in operating systems including Linux (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Windows, macOS, and UNIX variants (openSUSE, Solaris).
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and Citrix.
• Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including load balancing, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, GPOs, IDS/IPS systems.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
• Understanding of telecommunication protocols including HTTPS, SSL/TLS for secure communications.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
