Overview:

We are seeking a creative and skilled 2D Character Artist to bring our game characters to life. The ideal candidate will excel in designing captivating 2D characters, illustrations, and animations for games. This role focuses on creating high-quality, optimized assets that align with our artistic vision and enhance gameplay experiences.

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Design and create 2D character illustrations, concept art, and sprite sheets tailored for various game projects.
  • Develop animations and character movement cycles for games using tools compatible with Unity.
  • Collaborate with game designers, art directors, and animators to ensure characters fit seamlessly into the game world.
  • Optimize 2D assets for performance within the Unity game engine.
  • Import and implement 2D characters into Unity, ensuring proper animations, shaders, and materials.
  • Maintain consistency with the game's art style while bringing creative flair and originality to character designs.
  • Research and gather references to ensure authenticity, diversity, and innovation in character creation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques to refine the 2D character creation workflow.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in creating 2D characters for games, demonstrated through a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in digital illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Procreate.
  • Experience with Unity for 2D asset integration and animation workflows.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles and character rigging for 2D pipelines.
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques for 2D game assets to enhance performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and meet project deadlines.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with Adobe, Spine, DragonBones, or similar 2D animation software.
  • Familiarity with hand-painted or pixel art techniques.
  • Knowledge of shader and visual effects integration for 2D characters in Unity.
  • Experience creating assets for mobile, AR, or VR platforms.
  • Passion for storytelling and character development in games.
