Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Program Development:
  • Create and modify CNC programs for gemstone cutting, shaping, and engraving based on product design and technical drawings.
  • Optimize cutting paths and tool usage to reduce material wastage and improve efficiency.
  • Machine Setup and Operation:
  • Set up CNC machines with the correct tools, fixtures, and gemstone blanks as per production requirements.
  • Ensure machines are properly calibrated and parameters are accurately set before operation.
  • Tool Path Optimization:
  • Analyze and adjust tool paths, spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut to achieve the required precision and surface finish on gemstones.
  • Maintain consistency and minimize defects during cutting and polishing.
  • Quality Control:
  • Inspect and verify the first sample piece after programming to confirm dimensional accuracy and finish.
  • Collaborate with the quality team to ensure products meet required tolerance and design standards.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor machine performance and identify issues like vibration, tool wear, or alignment errors.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance of CNC machines.
  • Data and Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed records of CNC programs, process parameters, and job reports for future reference.
  • Update revisions whenever design or process changes are made.
  • Coordination and Support:
  • Work closely with designers, production supervisors, and gemstone setting teams to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Provide technical support to operators during machine operation and setup.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow all safety procedures and handling guidelines for machines and gemstones.
  • Ensure a clean and organized workstation to avoid contamination or damage to gemstones.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Suggest process improvements to increase precision, speed, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Keep updated with the latest CNC software, tooling, and gemstone cutting technologies.
