Job Overview

The Sourcing and Purchase Manager for textile / leather bags is responsible for

overseeing the procurement process, ensuring the strategic acquisition of high-quality

textile and leather materials at competitive prices. The role involves managing supplier

relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with ethical and

sustainability standards. The position requires a strong understanding of the textile

industry, supply chain processes, and purchasing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing Strategies: Develop and execute sourcing plans that meet

organizational goals for cost, quality, and delivery timelines.

Supplier Management: Identify, assess, and maintain relationships with

domestic and international suppliers to ensure consistent and reliable supply.

Market Research: Stay informed about trends, innovations, and pricing dynamics

in the textile industry.

Purchasing Operations: Manage purchase orders, track procurement activities,

and ensure timely delivery of materials.

Contract Negotiations: Negotiate favorable terms and contracts, including

pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.

Risk Management: Anticipate and address risks in the supply chain, including

disruptions or cost variances.

Quality Assurance: Verify that all purchased textile materials meet specied

quality standards through audits and supplier assessments.

Cost Optimization: Implement strategies to achieve cost savings while

maintaining quality and delivery standards.

Ethical Compliance: Ensure procurement practices adhere to ethical standards

and sustainability initiatives, supporting the company's values.

Collaboration: Work with production, logistics, and design teams to ensure

alignment with procurement goals.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree / 3 Year Diploma in Textiles Engineering /

Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience in sourcing or purchasing of cotton /

synthetic textiles.

Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of textile material construction

(specially cotton) from manufacturing of yarn to weaving, and finishing.

Basic knowledge of synthetic fabrics such as nylon and polyester is also required for

the job.

Should have knowledge for basic quality assessment of textiles such as colour

fastness, GSM, shrinkage, colour matching etc.

Knowledge of use of a Spectrophotometer is an added advantage and is desired.

Negotiation Skills: Expertise in negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze supplier performance, market trends, and

cost structures for informed decision-making.

Communication Skills: Clear and eective communication to build strong

supplier and team relationships.

Problem-Solving: Proactively address procurement issues and supply chain

challenges.

Project Management: Ability to oversee multiple purchasing projects and meet

deadlines systematically.

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with textile production processes and material

certications.

1st Year Deliverables:

The chosen candidate is expected to deliver the following results in the first 12 months:

Understand the annual requirements of different fabrics, including imports.

Develop a strong working relationship with all suppliers.

Work closely with stores, offsite warehouse, and guide them to track stock

levels.

Work closely with Senior Manager ( due for retirement in 6 months) for handover.

Communicate openly and cleary with both subordinates and superiors.
