Key Responsibilities

  1. Concept Development

  2. Brainstorm and develop unique jewelry concepts based on client requirements or market trends.

  3. Research cultural, artistic, and design inspirations to create innovative designs.

  4. Hand-Sketching

  5. Produce detailed hand-drawn sketches of jewelry pieces, including dimensions, design details, and specifications.

  6. Develop multiple design variations for review and selection.

  7. Material and Gemstone Selection

  8. Suggest suitable metals, gemstones, and other materials for each design.

  9. Ensure the compatibility of design with the chosen materials.

  10. Collaboration and Communication

  11. Work closely with jewelers, CAD designers, and production teams to translate sketches into finished products.

  12. Present design concepts to clients or internal stakeholders for approval.

  13. Trend Awareness

  14. Stay updated on current jewelry trends, customer preferences, and industry innovations.

  15. Incorporate market trends into design proposals.

  16. Documentation

  17. Maintain a portfolio of all designs and sketches for future reference.

  18. Provide detailed notes and instructions for production teams.

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Technical Skills

  2. Strong hand-sketching and artistic abilities.

  3. Knowledge of proportions, symmetry, and balance in jewelry design.

  4. Familiarity with gemstones and metals used in jewelry.

  5. Creativity

  6. Ability to think outside the box and create innovative, original designs.

  8. Precision in sketching and an eye for intricate details.

  9. Communication Skills

  10. Ability to clearly explain design concepts to clients and team members.

  11. Knowledge of the Jewelry Industry

  12. Understanding of manufacturing processes and the feasibility of designs.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Jewelry Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in manual jewelry designing is preferred.
  • A portfolio showcasing hand-drawn jewelry designs.

Work Environment

  • May work in a design studio, workshop, or office setting.
  • Some interaction with clients for bespoke designs.
