Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled
Electrical Design Engineer
with a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in designing
solar PV systems
, including both
ground-mounted and rooftop projects
. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design, solar PV system layout, system sizing, and knowledge of relevant codes and standards. This role is based in
Chennai
and involves collaboration with project teams from concept to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical layouts for
    rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems
    .
  • Conduct
    load calculations
    , cable sizing, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and protection schemes.
  • Perform system sizing and simulation using tools like
    PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and ETAP
    (or equivalent).
  • Prepare
    Bill of Materials (BOM)
    , technical specifications, and project documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant
    IEC, IS, and MNRE standards
    and local utility regulations.
  • Support site teams during installation and commissioning for technical clarifications.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including procurement, project execution, and O&M.
  • Evaluate and incorporate the use of
    inverters, transformers, switchgear, and other BOS components
    .
  • Conduct feasibility studies, shading analysis, and site assessments.
  • Provide technical support for tenders and proposals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
    from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 4 years
    of experience in solar project design (rooftop and ground-mounted).
  • Proficiency in
    AutoCAD
    ,
    PVsyst
    , and
    electrical design software
    .
  • Good understanding of
    solar PV technology
    , power systems, and grid interconnection.
  • Familiarity with
    CEA regulations
    , local utility standards, and DISCOM requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills (Added Advantage):

  • Experience with
    HT/LT electrical systems
    and power evacuation.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and remote monitoring platforms.
  • Certification in solar design or electrical safety is a plus.
