1. Strategic Planning & Management

  • Develop and implement P&M policies, systems, and procedures aligned with organizational goals.
  • Plan and manage plant and equipment requirements for multiple projects, ensuring optimal utilization and cost control.
  • Evaluate new technologies, equipment, and vendors to improve operational efficiency and productivity.

2. Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure minimum downtime.
  • Review and monitor equipment health, performance, and maintenance schedules across sites.
  • Implement condition monitoring systems and ensure timely refurbishment or replacement of critical machinery.

3. Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Prepare and monitor annual P&M budgets, including capex and opex.
  • Control maintenance and operating costs through efficient resource planning and vendor management.
  • Ensure cost-effective equipment deployment, transfer, and utilization across projects.

4. Procurement & Inventory Management

  • Approve technical specifications for purchase or hire of machinery and major spare parts.
  • Ensure vendor evaluation, selection, and negotiation align with quality and cost standards.
  • Maintain centralized control over equipment inventory, spares, and consumables.

5. Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to statutory regulations, safety norms, and company policies for all equipment operations.
  • Conduct safety audits and ensure operator training for safe handling of machinery.
  • Drive implementation of ISO, OHSAS, or other quality systems related to P&M.

6. People Management & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop P&M teams across regions and project sites.
  • Build a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and teamwork within the department.
  • Ensure training and skill enhancement programs for operators, mechanics, and engineers.

7. Coordination & Reporting

  • Collaborate with Project Heads, Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams to align P&M activities with project timelines.
  • Review and analyze monthly utilization reports, maintenance KPIs, and equipment performance dashboards.
  • Present MIS reports to senior management highlighting performance, issues, and cost-saving initiatives.
