Design Manager

Role & responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage the design and development of Hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic systems, components, and assemblies as per project and customer requirements.

  2. Develop and review detailed 2D/3D models and drawings using SolidWorks, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.

  3. Prepare detailed design documentation, BOMs, and ensure design standardization across projects.

  4. Coordinate with Production, QC, and Purchase teams to ensure design feasibility, material compatibility, and cost-effectiveness.

  5. Translate client specifications into technically sound and practical design solutions.

  6. Conduct design validation, tolerance analysis, and support prototype development and testing.

  7. Review, verify, and approve engineering drawings, ensuring adherence to company design and quality standards.

  8. Lead, mentor, and supervise the design team, allocating work and ensuring timely project completion.

  9. Provide technical assistance to internal teams during production, assembly, and testing stages.

  10. Drive New Product Development (NPD) initiatives and continuous design improvements.

  11. Collaborate with management to provide technical inputs for quotations, proposals, and client interactions.

  12. Support R&D activities to enhance product performance and reliability.

Preferred candidate profile

  1. B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.

  2. 1020 years of proven experience in Hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic system design and heavy engineering industry.

  3. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (mandatory) and good understanding of hydraulic circuits, manifolds, and cylinders.

  4. Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and design-for-production principles.

  5. Hands-on experience in ERP-based documentation and BOM preparation.

  6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.

  7. Strong communication and coordination skills across departments.

  8. Exposure to ISO documentation and design audit practices preferred.
