Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer who can design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure. You will be instrumental in driving our DevOps and automation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. GCP Infrastructure Development (IaC):

  2. Design, deploy, and manage GCP resources (VPC, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Storage) entirely through Terraform.

  3. Develop, manage, and enforce a robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategy, ensuring immutability and repeatability across all environments.

  4. Implement advanced Terraform features, including modules, workspaces, state management (using GCS/Cloud Storage backend), and Terragrunt (optional, but a plus).

  5. Platform Engineering & Automation:

  6. Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters (GKE) for performance, cost, and security, including cluster upgrades, node pool management, and network policies.

  7. Implement CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI) for automated infrastructure provisioning and application deployment.

  8. Develop automation scripts using Python or Shell to streamline operational tasks and integrate various cloud services.

  9. Security & Compliance:

  10. Implement and maintain security best practices on GCP, including IAM policies, Service Accounts, VPC Service Controls, and Secret Manager.

  11. Ensure all infrastructure deployments meet regulatory compliance standards and internal security policies.

  12. Configure and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Cloud Logging) to ensure high availability.

  13. Collaboration & Mentorship:

  14. Collaborate closely with development teams to define infrastructure requirements and optimize application architectures for the cloud.

  15. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and participate in a rotational on-call schedule.
  16. Mentor junior team members on GCP best practices, Terraform coding standards, and DevOps principles.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of total IT experience, with at least 3 years focused on public cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred) and DevOps practices.
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Proven expertise in core GCP services (Compute Engine, Networking, Storage, IAM, GKE).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Mandatory hands-on experience designing and deploying large-scale infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Strong working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
  • Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Go, or Shell).
  • CI/CD: Experience with modern CI/CD tools and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Haves)

  • GCP Professional Cloud Engineer or Professional DevOps Engineer Certification.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet.
  • Familiarity with Data and AI services on GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Vertex AI).
  • Expertise in networking concepts, including Cloud VPN, Cloud Interconnect, and Firewall Rules.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
