Job Title: High Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist Mayo Clinic Platform Support

Location: Remote (India-based, with overlap in South Korea Time)

About the Role

Google is looking for two highly skilled High Performance Computing (HPC) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to collaborate with the Mayo Clinic Platform (MCP) team. In this role, the candidate will support a key MCP client based in South Korea by optimizing and scaling AI Hypercomputing infrastructure. Candidate will help identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, improve cluster efficiency, and develop best practices for HPC-based AI workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Tune and optimize existing Slurm clusters to resolve configuration issues and eliminate performance bottlenecks for large-scale AI model training.
  • Evaluate storage and compute performance options to accelerate training and inference workloads.
  • Develop high-quality documentation, playbooks, and operational procedures to support MCP and Mayo Clinic engineers.
  • Establish best practices for AI Hypercomputer resource utilization and Slurm-based AI infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalability, security, and reliability of distributed training environments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Slurm workload manager, FUSE file systems, and large-scale AI/ML training infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of distributed computing, parallel file systems, and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration, scripting (Python/Bash), and cluster troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with AI Hypercomputers or large-scale GPU clusters.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud HPC solutions or equivalent cloud-native HPC environments.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across time zones and work effectively in remote, distributed teams.
