We are looking for a motivated and organised Inpatient Booking Assistant to join our Central Booking Office team at Borders General Hospital. This is a vital administrative role supporting the scheduling of patients for surgery and ensuring smooth communication and coordination across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily administrative support to the Inpatient Scheduling Team.
  • Act as a first point of contact for patients, handling calls and queries with professionalism and care.
  • Manage patient records, correspondence, and case notes with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Perform general office duties including filing, photocopying, and data entry.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Adhere to NHS Borders policies, including information governance and patient confidentiality.

Essential

  • Advanced keyboard and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion.

Desirable

  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with NHS systems such as TRAK, Nexus, and Infix.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and the Data Protection Act.
