Software Test Engineer Job Description

Software Test Engineer outlines the responsibility to ensure software quality by designing, executing, and documenting tests to find bugs, verify functionality, and confirm performance meets requirements. Key duties include analyzing specifications, writing test plans and cases, performing manual or automated testing, reporting defects, and collaborating with developers and stakeholders to improve the final product

Responsibilities

Test Planning and Design:

Analyze software specifications and project requirements.

Develop and write comprehensive test plans and detailed test cases.

Design tests to mitigate risk and ensure software quality.

Test Execution:

Perform manual and automated testing on various software platforms (web, mobile, etc.).

Execute different test types, including functional testing, performance testing, regression testing, and usability testing.

Bug Detection and Reporting:

Identify, document, and track software defects, errors, and functional issues.

Provide detailed defect reports and track them to resolution.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with software developers and project teams to troubleshoot and resolve bugs.

Communicate findings and feedback effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Quality Assurance:

Act as a quality champion for the product.

Contribute to the user experience and ensure the software is user-friendly and efficient.

Conduct post-release testing and ensure the product meets all requirements before launch.
