Job Description: Mechanical Tool Design Engineer
Role Overview
The Tool Design Engineer will be responsible for designing production tools, jigs, and fixtures specifically for Défense products. This role requires proficiency in using CATIA V5, 3DExperience (3DX), and PLM tools to deliver accurate tool designs from concept to manufacturing. The engineer will ensure that all tool designs meet high standards for safety, precision, and efficiency, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production processes.

Key Responsibilities
Design and Development:

  • Design production tools, jigs, and fixtures for aerospace and defense manufacturing.
  • Create shop aid tools for both production and maintenance activities.
  • Validate tool designs for fit, function, and manufacturability, ensuring compliance with ASME Y standards.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, interface assembly checks, and stress feedback incorporation.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare detailed drawings, technical specifications, and comprehensive documentation for tool manufacturing and assembly.
  • Use MS Office (Excel, Access) for reporting and maintaining documentation.

Basic Qualifications & Job Requirements
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Post diploma in Tool Design & Manufacturing
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in tool design, preferably within aerospace or defence sectors.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and developing jigs, fixtures, and specialized tools using CATIA V5, 3DX, or similar CAD software.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in GD&T (ASME Y standards for mechanical design.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create detailed engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Access).
