Role & responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled Land Surveyor to support land acquisition activities by providing accurate land measurements, boundary verification, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate will work closely with land acquisition teams, legal advisors, and project managers to ensure all property data is precise, compliant, and suitable for transaction or development purposes.
Preferred candidate profile
- Conduct detailed land and boundary surveys to support land acquisition and property transfer processes.
- Verify legal land descriptions and identify encroachments, easements, and other site constraints.
- Support due diligence efforts by providing accurate survey data, maps, and plats to land acquisition and legal teams.
- Collaborate with property owners, government agencies, and developers to clarify property boundaries and rights-of-way.
- Prepare survey drawings, legal descriptions, and exhibits for land acquisition contracts and title documentation.
- Use surveying instruments (GPS, total station, levels, etc.) and software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS) for data collection and mapping.
- Assist in the assessment of land suitability and feasibility for acquisition based on topography and existing conditions.
- Ensure all survey work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent certification (required or preferred based on region).
- Proven experience in land surveying for property acquisition, infrastructure, or development projects.
- Strong knowledge of property law, boundary determination, easement analysis, and legal descriptions.
- Proficiency with survey equipment and mapping software (AutoCAD, GIS, Trimble, Leica, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret deeds, title reports, and subdivision maps.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior work with public agencies, utility companies, or land development firms.
- Experience supporting right-of-way (ROW) or eminent domain projects.
- Familiarity with land acquisition processes in regulated or government settings.
Working Conditions:
- Fieldwork and site visits in various weather and terrain conditions.
- Office-based work involving data processing, reporting, and coordination.
- Travel may be required depending on project location.
