Job Description:

  • Linux Server Administration: Managing and maintaining Linux-based servers, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of various distributions such as Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, etc.

  • FTP Server Administration: Configuring and managing FTP & SFTP servers such as vsftpd or Openssh to facilitate file transfers between systems, including user authentication, access controls, and security configurations.

  • User Account Management: Managing user accounts, groups, and permissions on Linux systems, ensuring appropriate access levels and security measures are in place.

  • Shell Scripting and Automation: Developing shell scripts and utilizing automation tools (e.g., Ansible) to streamline administrative tasks, automate system configurations, and improve efficiency.

  • System Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitoring system performance metrics, resource utilization, and logs using tools like Nagios, or Zabbix, and implementing performance tuning techniques to optimize system performance.

  • Security Hardening: Implementing security best practices such as firewall configuration (e.g., iptables, firewalld), user authentication (e.g., SSH keys, two-factor authentication), and system hardening (e.g., disabling unnecessary services, applying security patches) to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.

  • Backup and Recovery: Setting up and maintaining backup solutions (e.g., rsync) to ensure data integrity and availability, as well as developing and testing disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime in case of system failures or disasters.

  • Networking Configuration: Configuring network interfaces, IP addresses, routing tables, and DNS settings, as well as troubleshooting network connectivity issues.

  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintaining comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
