Job Description :The resources shall possess the following qualifications : Operating Systems Knowledge :

  • Sound knowledge of RHEL 5/6/7 & Oracle Linux.
  • Basic knowledge of RHEL clustering configuration.
  • Knowledge of VMWare for deployment of Linux VMs.
  • Proficient in RHEL 6/7/8 & AIX 6.1/7.1.

Security and Compliance :

  • Strong understanding of Security aspects from Linux OS perspective.
  • Experience with security policies implementation as per organizational guidelines.
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite server for configuration and Linux patching.
  • Certification in RHEL is and Management :
  • Proficiency in handling basic to advanced calls in User, group management, system start-up, service modification, crontab entries, ACL modifications, file system management, root backups.
  • Experience in Server Management, Backup, with the help of proactive monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of any backup management software (e.g., Legato, Net backup, TSM, VERITAS, Omni backup).
  • VG, LV, and file system creation expertise.

Technical Expertise :

  • Automation of tasks using Shell/Perl scripting.
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Virtualization knowledge in the OVM environment.
  • Expertise in Red Hat Cluster and Red Hat Satellite server configuration.
  • Knowledge of iLO console for Intel/Dell servers.
  • Experience in Azure, OCI, AWS, or Google Cloud.

Responsibilities : Team Management :

  • Managing assigned UNIX staff.
  • Monitoring availability, performance, and capacity of UNIX platforms.
  • Establishing partnerships with peers across departments.
  • Participating in meetings with technical staff to discuss issues and strategies.

Platform Management :

  • Managing UNIX platforms, including Linux and Oracle Linux.
  • Life Cycle management according to technology standards.
  • Selection & standardization of platforms following Architecture and Security standards.
  • Automation, repeatability, and standardization of processes.
  • Disaster recovery activities readiness and participation.
  • Collaboration with Architecture and PMO for demand planning.
  • Ensuring proper allocation of budgets, resources, and timelines for scheduled projects.

Technical Expertise :

  • Managing RHEL deployments.
  • Identification of critical updates, upgrades, and validation in the non-prod setup.
  • Providing RCA and resolution for Priority 1 tickets.
  • Health checks for critical workload setups on RHEL.
  • Enabling security controls in RHEL as per info-security policies.
  • Troubleshooting production critical issues and Priority 1 tickets.
  • Creating Standard Operating Environment (SOE).
  • Installation/configuration of RHEL as per the SOE designed and best practices.
  • Day-to-day operations/maintenance activities related to RHEL deployments.
  • Creating short scripts for day-to-day operations.
  • Managing Users, quota, and access on the RHEL platform.
  • Applying patches through Satellite.
  • Experience in Shell scripting, Pearl scripting, Python knowledge.

Deliverables : The following detailed deliverables are considered :

  • Regular progress reports.
  • Incident reports.
  • Documentation of installations and configurations.
  • Scripts for day-to-day operations.
  • Completed disaster recovery activities documentation.
