We are seeking a versatile Geospatial Data Analyst to manage the end-to-end process of building data capture and height derivation. This role requires expertise in manual digitization using QGIS and height calculations leveraging advanced elevation data and cloud computing platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the entire data life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Capture: Utilize QGIS to create precise building polygons from satellite imagery, including project setup, plugin management, and layer organization.
  • Identification & Verification: Accurately locate building locations using coordinate data and cross-verify findings against high-resolution satellite imagery and Google Maps.
  • Data Management: Export spatial data into GeoJSON format, ensuring unique identifiers are consistently assigned and maintained.
  • Quality Control: Conduct rigorous accuracy checks by cross-referencing generated polygons against base maps and imagery, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Organization: Maintain clean project files by systematically clearing temporary layers and adhering to organizational best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency in GIS software: Strong hands-on experience with QGIS.
  • Coordinate systems expertise: Solid understanding of projections, datum, and spatial reference systems.
  • Satellite imagery interpretation: Ability to analyze and digitize features from high-resolution imagery.
  • Web mapping services: Familiarity with Google Maps and other online mapping tools.
  • Organizational skills: Systematic approach to project setup, file management, and quality control procedures.
