Position: Project Manager - Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Project Manager SQE to lead critical supplier quality initiatives and complex supplier integration programs. This role is responsible for the end-to-end quality management of purchased parts across assigned projects or key accounts, ensuring supplier quality plans are developed, executed, and aligned with project milestones, cost targets, and customer requirements. Moving beyond individual supplier management, the Project Manager SQE acts as the central Quality point of contact for project teams, orchestrating SQE resources, managing risk, and driving continuous improvement at a program level.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Project & Program Leadership: Lead cross-functional supplier quality projects from initiation to closure (New Product Introduction, Supplier Transitions, Quality Improvement Programs). Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resources in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Strategic Quality Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive Supplier Quality Management Plans (SQMP) for projects, ensuring alignment with client (especially USA-based) and internal quality standards.
  • Stakeholder & Crisis Management: Serve as the primary SQE interface for customer project reviews, escalations, and crisis management for quality issues related to purchased parts. Manage communication bridges between the client engineering/PM teams, internal procurement, and supplier teams.
  • SQE Team Coordination: Orchestrate and guide the work of Sr. SQEs and SQEs assigned to your projects. Ensure audit schedules, First Article Inspections (FAI), corrective action timelines, and performance scorecards are diligently tracked and reported.
  • Risk Management & Mitigation: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate supplier-related quality risks that could impact project cost, timing, or performance. Lead contingency planning.
  • Supplier Development & Performance: Drive strategic supplier improvement projects focused on Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD). Analyze project-specific supplier performance data to identify trends and lead Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Process & Governance: Establish and maintain project-specific quality governance processes. Ensure adherence to concepts like Copy Exact and Process of Record across the supply chain for the project.
  • Audit & Compliance Oversight: Oversee the supplier audit program for assigned projects/accounts (including management of audits in regions like Malaysia/China via local agencies). Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IRIS, DIN EN 15085, and customer-specific standards.
  • Contract & Agreement Review: Provide critical quality inputs into supplier contracts and Quality Assurance Agreements, ensuring clear accountability and metrics.

Must-Have Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical, Industrial, QA).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Supplier Quality Engineering/Management, with at least 3+ years in a project/program management role directly managing supplier quality for complex projects.
  • Proven experience working with MNCs or managing international supplier quality processes.
  • Deep expertise in corrective actions (8D, 5-Why, FTA), supplier qualification, FAI, and supplier audits.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or proven equivalent experience is required.
  • Must be business-savvy with exceptional ability to navigate complex customer and supplier situations.
  • Excellent spoken and written English is essential for effective communication with US-based clients and global teams.

  • Operational Requirements:
  • Willingness to work flexible hours aligned with USA PST timings (approx. 3 PM - 1 AM IST) or other time zones (Europe, Asia) based on project assignment.
  • Willing to travel internationally (~15-20%) for critical supplier meetings, customer audits, and project kick-offs.
  • Must possess a valid passport.

Ideal / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the semiconductor packaging industry or with packaging engineering.
  • Experience managing supplier quality for Automotive or other highly regulated customers.
  • Direct experience with contract management and Legal basics / quality assurance agreements.
  • Knowledge of capacity analysis and supplier manufacturing processes.
