Key responsibilities

  • Create technical drawings: Draft detailed plans for civil engineering projects, including roads, buildings, and other infrastructure.
  • Use CAD software: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software like AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce and modify 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Collaborate with teams: Work closely with civil engineers, architects, and surveyors to ensure designs are accurate and meet project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance: Verify that all drawings and plans comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Revise drawings: Make changes and corrections to existing drawings based on feedback from engineers and architects.
  • Maintain documentation: Keep project documentation accurate, organized, and up-to-date.
  • Provide project support: Assist with project reports, cost estimates, and other drafting-related tasks.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Education: An associate degree or certification in drafting or a related field, such as Civil Engineering Technology, is often required.
  • Technical skills:
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Soft skills:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
