Role & responsibilities

  • Responsible for design, development and execution of new products in assigned categories of electro-mechanical products such as wiring device & switch gear products.
  • Understand competitive marketplace for assigned categories and document competitive cross references.
  • Knowledge of Electromechanical product design and development process (Specially Switch, Sockets, Plugs, Plates)
  • Hands on experience in product design, plastic part design, 3D Modelling, 2D drafting, GD&T, component development, Moulds & Tools basics.
  • Hands on experience on DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM, Process capability study, project management, Value engineering.
  • Through knowledge on BIS standard for wiring accessory products
  • Take inputs from Marketing & Sales and Product planning team in order to plan and design new products with lower cost and/or value addition with budget and time constraints in mind.
  • Originate new products in concert with customer needs and business model
  • Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones
  • Review design, drawings & costing documents to make it correct in all aspects to meet new product development processes, BIS & ISO requirements.
  • Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, and equipment and resource requirements
  • Accurately complete item set up requirements and all related documents; communicate to procurement, quality department, marketing and sales
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project
  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing new products from concept to final delivery. Requires effective interaction with Packaging, Purchasing, Operations, Logistics, Finance, Marketing and Sales
