Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled
Data Engineer (Azure Data Platforms)
with strong expertise in building scalable data pipelines, data modeling, and big data solutions on the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with modern cloud-native architectures and the ability to deliver enterprise-grade data engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes for large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and loading.
  • Implement and manage data lakes and data warehouse solutions.
  • Write efficient queries and transformations using SQL, Python, and PySpark.
  • Develop and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for data engineering workflows.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts to deliver trusted and high-quality data solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with HSBC's security, governance, and data quality standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with cloud-native and big data technologies, providing recommendations for improvements.

Mandatory Skills

  • Strong experience with:

  • Azure Data Factory

  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Databricks

  • Azure Data Lake

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark.

  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good understanding of big data and cloud-native architectures.

Good to Have

  • Experience with data governance, data security, and compliance practices.
  • Exposure to machine learning pipelines and advanced analytics.
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in data engineering, with significant Azure exposure.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
