Role & responsibilities

1. Land Measurement & Boundary Marking

  • Measure land size and dimensions accurately.
  • Mark property boundaries as per approved maps.
  • Ensure there are no boundary disputes with neighbouring plots.

2. Topographic Survey

  • Prepare topographic maps showing:
  • Levels
  • Contours
  • Natural features (trees, slopes)
  • Existing structures
  • Helps architects and engineers plan the project correctly.

3. Layout Setting Out (Site Execution Support)

  • Set out the exact location for foundations, columns, walls, and utilities.
  • Provide reference points and levels for construction teams.
  • Ensure structures are built in the right position and alignment.

4. Leveling Work

  • Use leveling instruments (Auto Level, Total Station) to:
  • Maintain correct plinth level
  • Check height differences
  • Ensure roads, drains, and floors are at correct levels

5. Quantity Verification

  • Measure excavation quantity, backfilling, RCC work, road work, etc.
  • Verify contractor bills through actual site measurements.

6. Monitoring Construction Accuracy

  • Check if building dimensions match drawings.
  • Identify errors such as misalignment or incorrect levels.
  • Report deviations to the project engineer or manager.

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain records of surveys, levels, measurement sheets, and site sketches.
  • Submit survey reports for approvals.

8. Use of Survey Instruments

  • Total Station
  • Auto Level Machine
  • GPS Surveying Equipment
  • Laser Distance Meters

9. Coordination with Teams

  • Work closely with:
  • Project Engineers
  • Quality Engineers
  • Site Supervisors
  • Architects
  • Contractors

10. Compliance & Legal Support

  • Ensure land demarcation aligns with government maps.
  • Assist in land acquisition measurements.
  • Help in layout approvals from authorities.
