Quality Assurance Engineer

Role Overview

The QA Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of the Rehab Information System SaaS product. They will design and execute unit, integration, regression, and performance tests to ensure that the application is secure, stable, and scalable for 1,000+ concurrent users. The role involves hands-on test planning and execution, close collaboration with developers and DevOps, and a focus on ensuring the application meets healthcare compliance and performance benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning & Strategy

• Develop and maintain the Test Plan and Test Cases aligned with project requirements and functional flows.
• Define unit, integration, regression, and performance testing strategies.
• Collaborate with the Technical Architect to ensure testability of modules.
• Plan test data preparation for realistic workflows (patient records, rehab sessions, reporting, etc.).

Test Execution

• Perform manual testing of UI screens, workflows, and business logic for all modules.
• Conduct integration testing of frontend-backend and third-party service interactions.
• Execute unit testing support for developers and validate automated test coverage.
• Coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) sessions with Business Analysts and SMEs.
• Log, track, and verify fixes for defects.

Performance & Load Testing

• Prepare the staging environment with DevOps for load testing.
• Design and execute performance tests using tools like JMeter, Locust, or k6.
• Monitor system metrics (response times, error rates, memory/CPU utilization) under load of up to 1,000 concurrent users.
• Collaborate with developers to identify bottlenecks and optimize code and queries.

Automation & CI/CD Integration

• Implement automated test scripts for smoke, regression, and performance tests.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines for early defect detection.
• Ensure quality gates are in place to prevent defective builds from progressing.

Compliance & Security Validation

• Verify that the application meets data privacy, security, and healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
• Conduct vulnerability and penetration test support in coordination with DevOps.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Proficiency in test case design, test execution, and defect management.
• Experience with manual and automated testing for web-based SaaS products.
• Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
• Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, REST Assured).
• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust, k6).
• Knowledge of working in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Understanding of healthcare data security and compliance frameworks.

Preferred

• Experience testing SaaS-based healthcare or rehabilitation systems.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing (WCAG compliance).
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS / Azure / GCP) and monitoring tools.
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum processes.

Engagement Timeline

• Phase 1 – Setup & Preparation (Days 1–10): 0.3 FTE – Prepare test strategy and align with architecture & CI/CD
• Phase 2 – Development (Days 11–60): 0.5 FTE – Early test case creation, unit test collaboration, initial defect reporting
• Phase 3 – Integration & Testing (Days 61–85): 1.0 FTE – Functional and integration testing of all modules
• Phase 4 – Performance & Load Testing (Days 86–105): 1.0 FTE – Execute and analyze performance tests at 1,000 concurrent users
• Phase 5 – Stabilization & Final Validation (Days 106–120): 1.0 FTE – Regression testing, defect triage, UAT support, release readiness
