We are looking for an experienced Team Leader Underwriting to oversee medical and non-medical case assessments, risk evaluation, and process excellence. The role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines, maintaining quality standards, meeting TATs, and leading a team of underwriters. This position also plays a critical role in driving projects, audits, and enhancement of underwriting processes and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform underwriting of medical and non-medical cases as per company guidelines.
  • Assess risk in line with company philosophy and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to turnaround times (TATs) and maintain quality benchmarks.
  • Mentor, guide, and support junior underwriters in the team.
  • Handle projects assigned within the underwriting function.
  • Maintain uniformity in underwriting decisions and adherence to authorized limits.
  • Actively contribute to the revision of underwriting guidelines and processes.
  • Manage centralized and decentralized underwriting audits ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Drive retail underwriting activities, ensuring consistent delivery on TAT and quality targets.
  • Design/modify life insurance underwriting guidelines in line with evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate and resolve issues with alternate solutions.
  • Continuously enhance underwriting knowledge through training, certifications, and reference materials.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Graduate in any discipline (Life Insurance industry certifications preferred).
  • Experience: 3 8 years of underwriting experience in life insurance.
  • Strong knowledge of medical and non-medical underwriting principles.
  • Experience in life insurance underwriting audits, process improvements, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent analytical, mentoring, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while ensuring compliance with TAT and quality standards.
