Hydraulic Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design of centrifugal, side-channel, regenerative, and other pump types.
- Use CFturbo for hydraulic stage and impeller design.
- Perform CFD simulations (steady/transient, single/two-phase) for performance evaluation and optimization.
- Analyze cavitation, air entrainment, and conjugate heat transfer effects.
- Drive design enhancements to meet ISI and Star-rating compliance.
- Conduct design exploration and optimization for efficiency, NPSH, and pressure pulsation control.
- Develop automation tools/scripts using Python or C++.
- Create and review 3D/2D CAD models in SolidWorks, ensuring application of GD&T standards.
- Collaborate with vendors, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure a seamless design-to-production transition.
- Support DFM/DFA reviews and demonstrate working knowledge of casting, machining, plastic molding, and sheet metal processes.
- Create tool drawings (pattern/corebox) for cast components.
- Participate in prototype testing and correlate experimental data with CFD results.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Mechanical, Fluid Machinery, Turbomachinery Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic design software (preferably CFturbo).
- Proficiency in CFD tools such as ANSYS CFX, Fluent, OpenFOAM, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, including pump theory, cavitation, and NPSH.
- Experience in design optimization and working knowledge of DOE techniques.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T practices.
- Familiarity with pump testing and performance mapping.
